# Installation & Setup

⚠️ Please ensure you are logged in to Creative Cloud before running the Cockpit installer

    # How to Install & Set Up Cockpit on Mac

    This guide will walk you through downloading Cockpit, installing it on your Mac, activating your license, and setting up your preferred shortcut in Adobe Premiere Pro.

    ## 1. Download Cockpit

    Open the Cockpit download page you received after purchase and click **Mac** **Download Button**.

    Once the download finishes:

    1. Open the downloaded file to unzip it.
    2. You’ll see two packages:
       * **Installer**
       * **Uninstaller**
    3. Ignore the Uninstaller for now and double-click the **Installer**.

    ## 2. Install Cockpit

    Follow the prompts in the installer:

    1. Click **Continue** through the setup menus.
    2. Click **Install**.
    3. Once installation finishes, macOS will display a login item prompt in the top right corner. You can simply close this window.
    4. Click **Allow**.
    5. If prompted with additional options, you can select **Keep**.

    Cockpit will now be installed.

    ## 3. Open Premiere Pro

    Launch **Adobe Premiere Pro**.

    When Premiere opens, Cockpit should also appear in your top Mac menu bar. Cockpit automatically opens and closes with Premiere, so it won’t continue running in the background when you’re working outside of Premiere.

    ## 4. Open Cockpit

    By default, you can open the Cockpit popup using:

    **Option + Space**

    The popup will open, but Cockpit won’t be fully functional until you activate your license.

    To open the full Cockpit panel, go to **Window → UXP Plugins → Cockpit**

    Expand the Cockpit panel by dragging the bottom corner and click on "Settings"

    Enter or paste your license key in the "Cockpit License" section and click activate license.

    ## 5. Dock the Cockpit Panel

    The first time you open Cockpit, the panel may appear as a floating window.

    If you want it docked alongside your other Premiere panels:

    1. Click and hold the **Cockpit** panel name.
    2. Drag it toward the area where you keep your other panels.
    3. Wait until the purple docking indicator appears.
    4. Release it to dock Cockpit in place.

    ## 6. Activate Your License

    Inside the Cockpit panel:

    1. Open **Settings**.
    2. Paste the license key that was emailed to you after your purchase.
    3. Click **Activate License**.

    Cockpit is now activated and ready to use.

    ## 7. Change Your Cockpit Shortcut

    The default Cockpit shortcut is:

    **Option + Space**

    You can change it at any time from the Cockpit settings:

    1. Click **Record New Shortcut**.
    2. Press the keyboard combination you want to use.
    3. Your new shortcut will now open the Cockpit popup.

    You can also reset the shortcut back to **Option + Space** at any time.

    ## 8. Start Using Cockpit

    Cockpit consists of two connected interfaces:

    * The **popup helper**, which gives you fast keyboard-driven access while editing.
    * The **Cockpit UXP panel**, where you can access settings and individual tools.

    You’ll likely use the popup most often. From it, you can quickly access tools inside the UXP panel, apply effects, transitions, custom commands, and other actions to your selected clips.

    For example, you can search for and instantly apply effects such as **Transform** or **4-Color Gradient**, run custom commands, and apply transitions without digging through Premiere’s menus.

    ## 9. Access Cockpit Tools

    Cockpit also includes additional tools accessible from the sidebar.

    You can:

    * Use your **arrow keys** to navigate between tools.
    * Click, hold, and drag tools to reorganize them.
    * Press **Enter** or click a tool to open it inside the Cockpit UXP panel.
    * Click the **Home** button or **hamburger menu** to browse all available tools directly inside the plugin.

    Each individual Cockpit tool also has its own video demo if you need help learning how it works.

    ## You're Ready to Go!

    Once Cockpit is installed, your license is activated, and your shortcut is configured, you’re ready to start using it inside Premiere.

    For the fastest workflow, use the Cockpit popup while editing and open the full panel whenever you need to adjust settings or access one of Cockpit’s additional tools.

    # How to Install & Set Up Cockpit on Windows

    This guide will walk you through downloading Cockpit, installing it on Windows, activating your license, and getting everything set up inside Adobe Premiere Pro.

    ## 1. Download Cockpit

    Open the Cockpit download page you received after purchase and click **Download for Windows**.

    The download may take a little while because Cockpit includes several assets that need to be downloaded.

    Once it finishes:

    1. Click **Open File**, or navigate to your **Downloads** folder.
    2. Find the downloaded Cockpit ZIP folder.

    ## 2. Extract the Download

    Before installing Cockpit, you’ll need to extract the ZIP folder.

    1. Right-click or open the downloaded ZIP folder.
    2. Click **Extract All**.
    3. Click **Extract**.
    4. Open the newly extracted folder.

    ## 3. Install Cockpit

    Inside the extracted folder, double-click the **Cockpit Installer**.

    Windows may display a security warning. If it does:

    1. Click **More info**.
    2. Click **Run anyway**.
    3. Click **Yes** if Windows asks for permission.
    4. Follow the steps in the installer.

    The installation may take a little while as Cockpit installs everything into the necessary folders.

    Once it finishes, click **Finish**.

    ## 4. Open Premiere Pro

    Launch **Adobe Premiere Pro**.

    When Premiere opens, you should see the **Cockpit icon** appear in the system tray in the bottom-right corner of Windows. This indicates that Cockpit is running.

    Cockpit automatically opens when Premiere opens and closes when Premiere closes, so it won’t continue running in the background while you’re doing other things.

    ## 5. Open Cockpit

    By default, you can open the Cockpit popup using:

    **Alt + Space**

    This will open the Cockpit popup and display your effects, commands, and tools.

    However, nothing will work yet because your Cockpit license still needs to be activated.

    ## 6. Open the Cockpit Panel

    Click the **Settings icon** at the bottom of the Cockpit popup.

    This should automatically open the full Cockpit panel inside Premiere.

    If it doesn’t open, you can access it manually from Premiere:

    **Window → UXP Plugins → Cockpit**

    ## 7. Dock the Cockpit Panel

    Cockpit may initially open as a floating panel.

    If you want to keep it alongside your other Premiere panels:

    1. Click and hold the **Cockpit** panel name.
    2. Drag it to your preferred location in the Premiere interface.
    3. Release it when Premiere shows the docking area.

    Cockpit will now stay docked with your other panels.

    ## 8. Activate Your License

    Inside the Cockpit panel, open **Settings**.

    Then:

    1. Paste the license key you received after purchasing Cockpit.
    2. Click **Activate License**.

    Cockpit is now activated and ready to use.

    ## 9. Start Using Cockpit

    Once your license is activated, you can use the Cockpit popup to quickly apply effects, run commands, and open tools.

    For example:

    1. Select a clip in your Premiere timeline.
    2. Press **Alt + Space**.
    3. Search for an effect such as **Transform**.
    4. Select it to immediately apply it to your clip.

    You can also use your **arrow keys** to navigate to one of Cockpit’s tools and open it directly from the popup.

    ## 10. Access Cockpit Tools From the Panel

    You don’t have to use the popup for everything.

    You can also switch between Cockpit’s different tools directly inside the full Cockpit panel.

    The popup helper and Cockpit panel work together, so actions you perform through the popup can open or control tools inside the panel.

    ## You're Ready to Go!

    Once Cockpit is installed and your license is activated, you’re ready to start using it inside Premiere.

    For the fastest workflow, use **Alt + Space** to bring up the Cockpit popup while you edit, and use the full Cockpit panel whenever you want to access individual tools or settings.
